Siemens made its debut foray into Malaysia through its first recorded sale here in , Siemens set up its first semiconductor factories in Malacca and Penang, creating some , another semiconductor factory was set up in Malacca. Most recently, Siemens supplied and rolled-out the Siemens Smart Meter Data Management System for a local utility company, as part of the government’s nationwide initiative to enhance sustainable energy and energy efficiency adoption among Malaysians. In another milestone project, Siemens Mobility was awarded a contract by RTS Operations to design, install and commission a Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system and Platform Screen Door System for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit (RTS) Link. This will be the first ever case of CBTC technology being used on a cross border rail link.
